From 11 to 15 December, the French Air & Space Force’s CASPOA organised its bi-yearly Joint Personnel Recovery Air Command and Control course (JPR Air C2 course), at Lyon Mont-Verdun Airbase. The CASPOA is the FRA AF’s training centre for Air Command and Control (C2), and is also internationally recognised as NATO’s Air Operations Centre of Excellence (AO CoE).
In line with its mission to support Member Nations’ activities, the EPRC positively answered an invitation by AO CoE CASPOA to reinforce the course with instructors, for both the theoretical part (lectures) and the practical one (roleplays). This course has enabled seven trainees of various nationalities (2 DNK, 2 GBR, 3 FRA) to train on how to operate within a PRCC or JPRC.
The tools used by the AO CoE CASPOA, which are particularly well-suited to simulate the C2 aspects of Air Operations, were supplemented here by simulations of the PR Recovery Forces elements, for instance by providing the trainees with full motion video of the RPAS they had just been asked to task for their PR mission, making their actions very concrete and realistic.
Through such cooperation, the EPRC is once again demonstrating its ability to actively contribute to training and expanding the PR community among European Nations.
