From 28 to 30 April 2025, a delegation from the European Personnel Recovery Centre (EPRC) participated in the 52nd NATO Personnel Recovery/Search and Rescue (PR/SAR) Working Group meeting, held in Prague, Czech Republic. Convened under the authority of the NATO Standardisation Office (NSO), this key forum continues to serve as the cornerstone for developing and refining NATO’s Personnel Recovery (PR) doctrines and standards.
As a permanent non-voting member of the Working Group, the EPRC once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing NATO’s PR capabilities. The Centre played an active role in discussions and contributed significantly to ongoing doctrinal work, particularly on NATO AJP- 3.7, that is concluding its promulgation phase.
The Prague meeting provided a platform to reemphasize this urgency and to outline the roadmap for the upcoming revision of the PR TTP document. These contributions are vital to ensuring coherence and interoperability in NATO’s PR operations.
The meeting also featured in-depth exchanges on evolving PR terminology, discussions on future PR capability development, and renewed interest in establishing a dedicated PR hub or centre of excellence within NATO. These conversations reflect the Alliance’s ongoing efforts to adapt to emerging security challenges and enhance operational readiness.
The PR/SAR Working Group serves not only as a technical forum but also as a strategic platform for building a unified and robust PR framework across NATO. The EPRC remains committed to supporting this effort, reinforcing its role as a hub of expertise and a key enabler in the advancement of NATO’s personnel recovery capabilities.
