The EPRC participated in Working Session 1 of the Joint Personnel Recovery – Cooperation and Integration (JPR-C&I) project, part of the Multinational Capability Development Campaign (MCDC), held in Munich, Germany, from 22 to 24 April.
The event was of paramount importance, as today’s challenging and evolving scenarios require coordination and integration of personnel recovery (PR) across all military, diplomatic and civilian entities to meet the expected demands across the full spectrum of conflict. The main theme of the project is to integrate all PR resources, maintain awareness of PR events and be ready to assist other government departments or partner nations. These actions should be carried out by any personnel element developed by a nation to meet the requirement. Lack of understanding of the organisation and specific roles and responsibilities results in poor coordination and integration of PR personnel, inadequate preparation of PR roles and resources, inadequate training, and incomplete planning and coordination of PR missions.
The end state of the project is to establish the key requirements, responsibilities and roles of the PR cell, from the strategic to the tactical level, thereby improving the understanding of the PR function and interoperability, as well as the ability of the PR cell to coordinate and integrate between C2 nodes, and to receive better support for the execution of PR missions.
