As part of the cooperation activities resulting from the mission of the European Personnel Recovery Centre (EPRC), on the 17ᵗʰ of November 2016 was held the visit of Mr. Peter Round, Director Capability, Armament & Technology for the European Defence Agency (EDA), at the Air Operations Command (AOC) of Poggio Renatico AB. He was accompanied by Mr. Constantinos Hadjisavvas, Project Officer Protect of the EDA. Mr. Round was welcomed by Major General Gianni Candotti (EPRC Director) and Col. Domenico Fanelli, (EPRC Commander).
The main theme of the visit was the development and harmonization of activities in order to improve standardisation in “Personnel Recovery” among all nations belonging to the European Union. The meeting was also the occasion to show the Air Force facilities located on the Poggio Renatico ITA Air Base through a visits to the Air Operations Training Centre (AOTC), the Joint Force Air Component (JFAC), Air Control Centre and Rap fusion centre (ARS). Particular emphasis took place during the visit to the EPRC building, where the two directors were able to analyse the goals and proposals to achieve a better cooperation between the EDA and EPRC, in order to find a common “way ahead”.
The EPRC and EDA have developed a collaborative relationship to “executive level” between the EPRC Director and EDA Chief Executive, Ambassador Jorge Domecq, in order to define the areas and ways of cooperation.
During the meeting the traditional exchange of plaques and signature of the “Guest Book” took place.
